Board Breaking at Summit Martial Arts

Board BreakingOn Saturday, October 3, Summit Martial Arts put on a Board Breaking Seminar.   It was an amazing afternoon filled with explosive kicks and punches! The session started with a short lecture from Master Morris about how technique plays a major role in a student’s ability to break boards. Our SMA kids and adults were excited to get started. First, everyone got to practice with the re-breakable boards.  This ensures that a student is comfortable with their technique and the feel of breaking a board. We do board breaks regularly in class but this seminar was extra special.

After mastering their techniques, SMA students moved on to the good stuff – real wood boards!! We are not sure who was more excited to break the wood boards, our adult students or the kids.

Summit Martial Arts students spent the next 90 minutes working on their kicks and punches.  It was an action packed seminar!  Our youngest members showed their skills with some exciting hand techniques.

The kids did an awesome job powering through those boards – it’s amazing what you can do when your technique is spot on!  At Summit Martial Arts, we take pride in our technique.  It is not enough to simply go through the motions. Our instructors take time to teach and correct each student.  As a result, our students feel confident in their abilities.

Our adults had a great time too!  Speed breaks were particularly popular – it is pretty exciting to see a board go flying from the sheer power of your fist.

The day was truly inspiring.  Students were thrilled at their ability to break boards and confidence levels soared by the end of the seminar.  Our young students took home a broken board as their trophy for their hard work.  It was an awesome day – we cannot wait to do it again!!  For more pictures, check us out on Facebook.
